About Rebecca Snure
I learned the French serti method of painting on silk, while staying at a gorgeous chateau nestled in the rolling hills of the Morvan area of Burgundy; and though I've been working in many art mediums over the years, I have become so fascinated with silk painting that it's become my artistic passion. I now produce silk scarves, wraps, blouses, pillows and my latest item, silk ascots. My inspiration comes from plants, flowers and fruits, and everyday observations of the nature surrounding us. I draw freehand onto stretched silk, mixing dyes to produce the desired colors, and letting the dye flow and fuse with the silk. Although similar designs and themes are used, each piece is unique and is signed by me. Therefore, with the exception of my Limited Edition Scarves and Signature Scarves, there are no two pieces exactly alike. The silk dyes are permanently set making the scarves washable for years to come. I purchase my silk, dyes, resist, stretcher frames and other supplies from Dharma Trading Company www.dharmatrading.com in California.
There aren't many fashion accessories that are as multi-functional as scarves. The way to wear a silk scarf is only limited by your imagination. Wear them on your head, around your neck, over your shoulders, about your waist or around the handle of your handbag. The effects may vary but the end result is always the same - a fashionable, finished look!
I travel so you never know where I might show up. I enjoy doing scarf painting and scarf-tying demonstrations in and around my home of Annapolis, MD; and am often asked to be a vendor at art shows. Visit our events page to see where and when you can see my wearable art, and perhaps see me "in action."
